We're going BIG on TINY. Visit the California Academy of Sciences to view the world through the whimsical lens of celebrated social media stop-motion star Tiny Chef. Tiny Chef, Big Impact features a newly-created 20-minute film that brings Chef to the Morrison Planetarium big screen with a hilarious presentation that underscores how even the tiniest actions can make a big difference for our planet. Plus, don’t miss an exhibition of Tiny Chef props, a memorable photo op, custom merchandise, and more! On view through May 3, 2026.

This May, set sail for adventure during an exciting NEW event: Voyage to the Islands at Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park. Over five weekends (May 2-31), guests will journey through the timeless traditions and flavors of Tahiti, Aotearoa (New Zealand), Tonga, Hawaii, and Samoa. Each weekend will bring a different Polynesian culture to life through music, dancing, educational storytelling, and delicious island-inspired food and beverages. Presented in partnership with Legacies of the Pacific as we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, this fun and educational event is included with regular park admission and FREE for 2026 Gilroy Gardens Members.

Tahiti (May 2-3)
Join the first weekend of our celebration with Kawailehua from Milpitas, sharing colorful Tahitian dance performances and graceful 'ahuroa storytelling through hand movements.

Aotearoa / New Zealand (May 9-10)
Kia ora! Enjoy vibrant dances presented by Ke aka O Polynesia from Benicia and learn how the Maori ancestors migrated in canoes from Hawaii to Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Tonga (May 16-17)
Celebrate the beauty of Tongan culture with the Moui Fo'ou la Kalaisi Fellowship Band from San Francisco on Saturday and Mixed Persuasion, a youth dance group also from San Francisco, on Sunday.

Hawaii (May 23-25)
Say "aloha" to Ha`a Hula from Hollister as we celebrate this joyful and powerful traditional style of movement. Be sure to join in our Memorial Day Weekend Celebration for even more island fun! (Island feast available for an additional fee that includes an exclusive performance from Merahi o Tehani.)

Samoa (May 30-31)
Set sail for Samoa! The Samoan Community Development Center from San Francisco will present traditional Samoan dances and graceful, powerful storytelling through movement.
